Daniel Smith Interference Gold, part of the Luminescent Watercolors collection, is a transparent gold that refracts light (causes light to scatter). When glazed over dark colors or painted directly onto black paper, it’s warm and twinkling. When painted on white paper, it displays a subtle sheen.

Swatch info: Starting with 10 parts water to 1 part paint (by weight) in the palette, the chemist painted the top half of the swatch uniformly with a round brush to show the paint’s color and characteristics. For the bottom half, a  0.75-inch flat brush was dipped into the paint well just once, then the color was applied in stripes until the brush was dry, which shows the color’s tone and behavior through a wash.
